ATA Carnet is an international customs document that permits duty-free and tax-free temporary import of goods for up to one year. The initials ATA stand for "Admission Temporaire".
ATA Carnet is issued exclusively by Chambers of Commerce affiliated to the ATA international guarantee chain. The World Chambers Federation (WCF) is responsible for administering the chain.
The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon (CCIA-BML) issues and guarantees ATA Carnet in Lebanon, and guarantees the Carnets issued by other contracting parties when used in Lebanon.
ATA Carnet covers commercial samples, professional equipment and goods for use at trade fairs and exhibitions such as computers, repair tools, photographic and film equipment, musical instruments, industrial machinery, vehicles, jewelry, clothing, medical appliances, aircraft, race horses, art work, prehistoric relics, ballet costumes and rock group sound systems. However it doesn't cover perishable or consumable items, or goods for processing or repair.
