- 1887 The Beirut Press announced the opening of the “Beirut Oda of Commerce” in a statement published by its president, Najib Bayham, encouraging merchants and industrialists to join the chamber while presenting the terms of association and required documents.
-1910 , During the rule of Sultan Abdel-Hamid II a new Ottoman law was issued on 5 Jumada al-Awwal 1328HC/ 1910CE: “Chambers of Commerce and Industries”. This revised chamber functions, the ways in which they were formed, merchants’ functions and the financial administration’s income.
1912, Omar Daouk was elected head of the “administrative council of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries in Beirut”
-1950 the chamber decided to publish a magazine focusing on matters of economy in Lebanon and the Arab world to meet the demands of businessmen and to serve as a link between them and the chamber.
- 1967 After the issuing of the Lebanese decree of chambers and industry Law no. 45/67, the body’s title became the “Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Beirut”.
-1972, Inauguration of the Chamber’s private headquarters in Sanayeh
-1997 Law No. 626, which increased the powers of chambers of Commerce and Industry and incorporated the agricultural sector, was issued. Thereafter they came to be known as the “chambers of commerce, industry and agriculture”. The Chamber board was comprised of members affiliated with Beirut and Mount Lebanon and the activity of the chamber began to incorporate the two together, becoming known thereafter as: “The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon”.
-1974 the official opening celebration of the new headquarters was held on June 17, 1974 under Chamber President Adnan al-Kassar, observed by Lebanese President Sleiman Franjieh and attended by Prime Minister Takieddine al-Solh.
-1976 creation of affiliate Branches: Ashrafieh branch maintained regular operation until the end of August; August 16, 1994,
-1984 opening second branch in Baaqline
-1996 opening of Jounieh Branch
-1994 a new branch in Sin el-Fil. The chamber opened a branch in Baaqlin, Al-Shouf
-1996 -The Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Lebanon was formed pursuant to Decree 9656 issued on December 28, 1996.
The Federation is constituted of the four active chambers in Lebanon, as follows:
1-The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount-Lebanon.
2- The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Tripoli and the North.
3- The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Saida and the South.
4- The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Zahle and the Bekaa.

Historical impactful role
-When the First World War broke out, the Beirut Chamber of Commerce played a prominent role in seeking to salvage foodstuffs and goods for the residents of Beirut.
-During the period of Ottoman rule the Chamber of Commerce took on an active role in organizing exhibitions in Beirut, for the purpose of encouraging industry and trade.
-The Chamber, since its founding, has been keen to establish best relations with all countries and in particular with the Arab states. It has always sought to strengthen ties with other chambers of commerce and foreign institutions active in economic fields and introduce them to Lebanon’s economic center and the prospects of engaging in exchange with it.
-The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon serves as a model of openness and cooperation, not just in its immediate surroundings of the Arab world, but also globally, where it has expanded its relations to reach out to different countries and the international institutions.
-The Beirut and Mount Lebanon Chamber of Commerce is a vital limb of the economic bodies that constitute the most prominent associations in the business and economy sectors in Lebanon. It is an active member in the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Arab Countries, in the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce(ASCAME), and the International Chamber of Commerce – Lebanon Branch.
-Today the Chamber embraces roughly 14, 000 institutions distributed throughout Beirut and Mount Lebanon, representing 70% of the entire active Institutions in Lebanon.
-Chairman of CCIA-BML, Mohamed Choucair is the president of ASCAME since 2012.
