ASCAME “Recovery Plan and new economic development model for the Mediterranean – Time to act” adopted during the virtual Board meeting held on June 9, 2020
The Board of Directors of ASCAME (Association of Chambers of Commerce of the Mediterranean) where the Chamber of Beirut and Mt-Lebanon is represented by its President Mr. Mohamed Choucair, approved on July 9 an ambitious plan for the economic recovery of the Region and the development of a new Mediterranean economic model.
This plan, enriched by more than 30 years of common experience in the context of business and economic development, intends to mobilize chambers in all Mediterranean countries to exchange good practices and support the sectors hard hit by the covid- 19. The Region must focus in particular on the avant-garde sectors of the Digital Economy, the Green Economy and the Blue Economy. The latter which links 3 continents bordered by the Mediterranean and whose future can only be common.
The plan describes in detail the initiatives needed to overcome the impact of the pandemic as well as the initiatives which must bring inclusive development to the Region. ASCAME invites the chambers and the companies to think from now on "regional" and to resist together the challenges which may occur and to dream and achieve together a better future.
