The Chamber of Beirut & Mount Lebanon organized at Hotel Golden Tulip in Beirut a Management and Steering Committee meeting for OPTIMED, an ENPI project related to “Rationalising Mediterranean Sea Ways from Southern-Eastern to Northern-Western ports”.
Leader and partners within OPTIMED took part in this two-day meeting namely, Sardinia Region, CIREM, ASCAME, Port of Sardinia, Port of Barcelona along with the Ministry of Public Works & Transport in Lebanon represented by Director General Mr. Abdel Hafiz Kaissi and the Chamber of Beirut & Mount Lebanon represented by Director General Mr. Rabih Sabra.
In his welcome note, Mr. Sabra stressed on OPTIMED objectives dealing with enhancing the maritime trade between Northern and Southern shores of the Mediterranean Basin and the ultimate benefit to all partner countries from the technology transfer within the new trade network. He added that this project will offer Lebanon and the port of Beirut an opportunity to improve its positioning and develop its activities.
Presentations and discussions focused mainly on the overall progress of activities and packages to be assumed by each partner and the upcoming milestones to be achieved.
