The Beirut Chamber participated in the Regional Dialogue on WTO Accessions for the Arab Region that took place virtually. Mr. Rabih Sabra the Director General made a presentation about the Chamber’s active participation as a private sector representative in the previous negotiations for Lebanon’s accession to the WTO. He highlighted the Chamber’s stand in facilitating trade between Lebanon and foreign markets beside acting as a platform for dialogue between the business sector and the government through its various initiatives and joint national committees, namely the Committee on Trade Agreements. He added that though the compounding crises in Lebanon would require extraordinary measures in order to minimize the budget deficits like temporary fees on imports, the Lebanese government and the private sector have taken concrete measures on the way to the WTO accession, namely the endorsement of the needed legislations.
