The &quot;Major Advocacy Event&quot; of the EU funded project <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/company/internisa?trk=public_post-text" target="_self">INTERNISA</a> recently took place in Thessaloniki from October 17th to 19th, 2023 in presence of guests speakers from EU directorates, greek public administrations and Internisa partners from Greece, Spain, Italy, Tunisia, Palestine and Lebanon. Organised by RCM, lead partner of Internisa, the conference was inaugurated with opening speeches from the representatives of Region of Central Macedonia and the Minister of Digital Governance of Greece. The day progressed with three themed discussion panels where speakers shared insights and learnt lessons to further empower women in the meditterranean. Within the Employability Panel: <a href="https://lb.linkedin.com/in/rabih-sabra-7ba78143?trk=public_post-text" target="_self">Rabih Sabra</a>, Director General of the Chamber of Beirut &amp; Mount Lebanon, partner in Internisa, dove into the role and initiatives carried out by Beirut Chamber to address the employability challenges in lebanon. As for the Education Panel the discussions centered on role of training and academia in fostering the gender parity .Dr. Marcel Hinain from the <a href="https://lb.linkedin.com/school/american-university-of-technology/?trk=public_post-text" target="_self">American University of Technology</a> in Lebanon deliberated on the importance of educational programs and training initiatives tailored to empower Lebanese vulnerable women. The third panel session tackled the INTERNISA global impact, and the spotlight here was on the results and policy approaches concerning education and employment opportunities for women. <a href="https://lb.linkedin.com/in/hana-nehme-haidar-03371147?trk=public_post-text" target="_self">Hana Nehme Haidar</a> , Director of Projects at Beirut Chamber, shared insights and learnt lessons inspired by the project&#39;s outcomes and its spillover on supporting the women case . The three day-event was concluded with diverse study visits to Greek NGOs, logistics and dairy products companies , innovation zone where women and youth play active roles, and to the Chamber of Thessaloniki for an enriching exchange of insights and experiences in projects.

INTERNISA Major Advocacy Event

On October 20, 2023, the Chamber organized a &quot;Train the Trainer&quot; local event at Coral Petroleum, one of the key pilot Lebanese participant companies with a large fleet of truck drivers. The Chamber Technical Team delivered a presentation on the main objectives of TechLog and provided training on simulators to senior truck drivers at Coral. These drivers, in turn, will conduct training sessions for new recruits at Coral. The Chamber will continue to support training activities on TechLog simulators beyond the project&#39;s lifespan.

دبانة يشارك في اللقاء الوزاري الزراعي العربي:

لبرنامج يستجيب لتوفير الأمن الغذائي العربي

شارك رئيس اللجنة الزراعية في إتحاد الغرف اللبنانية روفائيل دبانه في اللقاء الوزاري لوزراء الزراعة العرب في مقر الجامعة العربية في القاهرة الذي دعا اليه الأمين العام للجامعة العربية أحد أبو الغيط&nbsp; للتداول في حالة الامن الغذائي العربي.

وأجرى دبانة مداخلة باسم القطاع الخاص اللبناني قدم فيها صورة مفصلة عن الزراعات التي تتحلى بها البلدان العربية بأمن واكتفاء ذاتي غذائي، وعن بمين وعنا الزراعات التي فيها فجوة من ناحية الكميات وما هي الكميات الواجب السعي لانتاجها للوصول للاكتفاء الذاتي وما هي المساحات اللازمة لانتاج هذه الكميات.

وشدد دبانة على ضرورة رعاية الجامعة العربية لوضع برنامج زراعي مستقبلي لردم الهوة الموجودة في الانتاج الزراعي ويستجيب لتوفير الامن الغذائي العربي، مؤكداً ان القطاع الخاص العربي لديه القدرة والكفاءة للقيام باستثمارات اللازمة في هذا الإطار، شرط ان يتم توفير التمويل بشروط وتسهيلات تتماشى مع ما هو معمول به عالمياً.

سبل تطوير العلاقات الإقتصادية الثنائية

استقبل رئيس الهيئات الاقتصادية الوزير السابق محمد شقير اليوم في مكتبه في غرفة بيروت وجبل لبنان سفير الجزائر الجديد رشيد بلباقي يرافقه الديبلوماسي محمد تيطوم، وبحضور رئيس اتحاد مجالس رجال الأعمال اللبنانية &ndash; الخليجية وسام عريس، وجرى التداول في سبل تطوير العلاقات الاقتصادية الثنائية وتعزيز التعاون بين القطاع الخاص في البلدين.

كما تم التطرق إلى أحداث غزة، وكان تشديد على ضرورة رفع الظلم عن الشعب الفلسطيني وإعطائه حقوقه كاملةً. كما كان هناك مطالبة بتدخل القوى الدولية المؤثرة لوقف المجازر التي ترتكب بحق الشعب الفلسطيني ورفع الحصار الخانق عن أهالي غزة.

وفي بداية اللقاء، رحب شقّير بالسفير بلباقي في بلده الثاني، وشدد على عمق الروابط التاريخية والأخوية بين لبنان والجزائر والتي تشكل أرضية قوية لتنمية العلاقات الاقتصادية الثنائية، مشيرا الى وجود الكثير من الفرص الواعدة التي يمكن العمل عليها بشكل مشترك.

أما سفير الجزائر فأبدى سروره لبدء مهامه في لبنان، مبدياً رغبته في إقامة تعاون بَنّاء مع شقير في سبيل تنمية العلاقات الاقتصادية الثنائية.

كما أبدى استعداد بلاده للقيام بكل ما يلزم لتحقيق الأهداف المرجوة وتطوير العلاقات مع دولة لبنان الشقيقة.

The European Union-funded iHeritage project marked its achievements in a final conference in Palermo, Italy. Hosted by the Sicilian Region Department of Tourism, the event brought together partners from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt.

Key highlights included a keynote by Rabih Sabra, Director General of the Chamber, emphasizing the Chamber&#39;s efficient execution of tasks and plans to expand its impact to other UNESCO sites in Lebanon.

Hana Nehme, Director of Projects, highlighted the iheritage milestones in Lebanon such as scientific researches, co-publications, trainings, mapping of 50 intangible heritage elements, and the many VR/AR developed applications. The 9 Lebanese subgrantee projects, were showcased by Dory Abou Saab, IT &amp; communication Manager while Developer Kabalan Samaha from cre8mania showcased the Archeogame in byblos castle and the &ldquo;tales from sky&rdquo; video mapping show projected in old port of byblos.

Dr. Marcel Hinain, Vice President of AUT, discussed the historical importance of Byblos throughout various eras.The conference spanned two days and included the final steering committee meeting, as well a visit to university of palermo holographics exhibition.

Chamber of Beirut & Mount Lebanon Celebrates iHeritage Success in Palermo

Organised by the Chamber of Beirut &amp; Mount Lebanon within the EU funded project Iheritage, The iHERITAGE International Conference UNESCO for cultural heritage witnessed an enriching exchange of ideas and showcased innovative projects inspired by heritage and technological advancements. 
Rabih Sabra, Director General of Chamber of Beirut &amp; Mount Lebanon delivered the opening welcome remarks and shed lights on the instrumental role of the Chamber in iheritage innovation journey. The event continued with keynotes delivered by Alessia Squarcella (EU Delegation in Lebanon), Lutecia El Beaini (JTS-ENI CBC MED representative), Juan Antonio Belmonte (International Astronomic Union), Elena Constantinou (UNESCO &ndash; Beirut office), and Ralph Saliba-vice &nbsp;president of Byblos Municipality) who shared their insights on the importance of preserving and innovating around cultural heritage. 
The conference second session included the Project Presentations: Lucio Tambuzzo , artistic director of iheritage offered a comprehensive overview of iHERITAGE concept and message behind in mediterranean, followed by Hana Nehme Director of projects who detailed the project&#39;s unprecedent achievements and milestones in Lebanon. The Academic Statement by Dr. Marcel Hinain from the American University of Technology emphasized the academic implications in scientific research and future prospects of iheritage. 
The Showcase of AR/VR Innovations started with presentations on cutting-edge AR/VR applications in heritage preservation stole the limelight. Dr. Annie Tohm&eacute; presented the intangible iHERITAGE 50 elements record, while Kabalan Samaha from CRE8MANIA introduced the stunning Archeo Video Game set up in Byblos, Evan Fakhoury from 1 Tribe amazed attendees with virtual archeological reconstructions application, and Marc Raphael from YAAY took everyone on an AR VR guided tour IN BYBLOS Historic site. 
A special segment led by Dory Abou Saab, IT &amp; Communication Manager and exper Bilal Zahalan, was dedicated to introduce nine spin-off subgranted initiatives. These creative projects are inspired by the melding of cultural heritage with innovation, highlighting the future potential of such collaborations. 
The event concluded with a promising roadmap for Lebanon collaboration with UNESCO and a heartfelt vote of thanks. The energy and engagement during the conference underscored the vital role of integrating cultural heritage with modern technological tools. The iHERITAGE conference has undoubtedly set a benchmark for future initiatives in this realm.

إجتماع عمل بين القطاعين العام والخاص في غرفة بيروت وجبل لبنان

تم خلاله وضع اللمسات الأخيرة للتحضيرات الجارية لإنجاح مشاركة لبنان في &quot;أكسبو قطر&quot;

عقد اليوم في مقر غرفة بيروت وجبل لبنان اجتماع عمل موسّع بين القطاعين العام والخاص لوضع اللمسات الاخيرة للتحضيرات الجارية لإنجاح مشاركة لبنان في &quot;اكسبو قطر&quot; الذي سيفتتح في الأول من تشرين الأول المقبل. وشارك في الاجتماع رئيس الهيئات الاقتصادية الوزير السابق محمد شقّير، مدير عام وزارة الزراعة لويس لحود، مدير عام وزارة الاقتصاد محمد أبو حيدر، رئيس غرفة صيدا والجنوب محمد صالح، نائب رئيس غرفة زحلة والبقاع منير التيني، رئيس اللجنة الزراعية في اتحاد الغرف اللبنانية رفلة دبانة، الملحق الاقتصادي في سفارة لبنان في قطر شادي أبو ضاهر، نائب رئيس جمعية الصناعيين جورج نصراوي، رئيس نقابة الصناعات الغذائية منير البساط، رئيس تجمع صناعي البقاع نقولا أبو فيصل، أمين سر الهيئات الاقتصادية الفونس ديب، وممثلين عن القطاعات المعنية.

بدايةً، اشاد شقير بكل الجهود المبذولة لإتمام كل التحضيرات اللازمة لغنجاح مشاركة لبنان في &quot;اكسبو قطر&quot;، مشدداً على أهمية الحدث الذي يعتبر فرصة مهمة لعكس صورة لبنان وفتح أسواق جديدة مع وجود 80 دولة عارضة على مدى 6 أشهر.

وأكد شقيَر على ضرورة أن يستفيد المزارعين والصناعيين اللبنانيين من هذه الفرصة القيمة، مؤكداً على ضرورة إعطاء الفرصة للشركات المنشأة حديثاً للترويج لمنتجاتها وأفكارها المبتكرة.

لحود

بدوره توجه لحود بالشكر للوزير شقير &nbsp;ولاتحاد الغرف لاحتضان نشاطات الوزارات، منوهاً بجهودهم في دعم المبادرات التي من شأنها خدمة الاقتصاد الوطني لا سيما اكسبو قطر، كما شكر السفارة اللبنانية في قطر. وأعلن لحود أنه سيكون هناك فرصة هامة لعرض المنتجات الزراعية والغذائية اللبنانية على إختلافها، عارضاً النشاطات التي سيتم تنظيمها طوال ستة اشهر خلال إقامة اكسبو قطر والتي من شأنها ترويج هذه المنتجات وكذلك فتح اسواق جديدة لها.

أبو حيدر

أما أبو حيدر فشكر كل من الجهات الداعمة والمتعاونة خصوصاً الغرف اللبنانية، وكذلك الذين ساهموا في موضوع جناح لبنان لا سيما دار الهندسة التي قدمت التصميم الداخلي وبعض اللبنانيين العاملين في قطر الذين قدموا الأثاث والتجهيزات الأخرى.

وأشار أبو حيدر إلى أنه يتم العمل على تنظيم مؤتمر اقتصادي على هامش المعرض يجري التحضير له. ولفت إلى أهمية استفادة الشركات الناشئة والمبادرات الفردية الخلاقة من وجودها في المعرض.

المناقشات

وجرى خلال الاجتماع نقاش مطول تم خلاله وضع اللمسات الأخيرة على التحضيرات التي تمت لإنجاح مشاركة لبنان في أكسبو قطر 2023، وذلك بالتعاون الوثيق بين القطاعين العام والخاص. كما تم عرض مصوّر حول &quot;إكسبو قطر&quot; والجناح اللبناني والأقسام التي يضمها والمساحات التي يمكن الاستفادة منها في عرض المنتحات اللبنانية.

كما تمحور الحديث بشكل أساسي عن الأسابيع التي سيتم تنظيمها خلال إكسبو قطر طوال 6 أشهر آخذين بعين الاعتبار مشاركة مختلف أنواع المنتجات اللبنانية الغذائية والزراعية والمونة اللبنانية، وكذلك النشاطات والمنتديات التي سيتم تنظيمها من أجل تسويق الإنتاج اللبناني.

كذلك تم الاتفاق على آلية إشراك المنتجين مع التركيز على المنتجين الجدد الصغار الذي لديهم منتجات تتمتع بالابتكار والمواصفات الممتازة بهدف فتح أسواق جديدة لمنتجاتهم.

شقّير يستقبل سفيري قبرص وكوبا

ويبحث معهما سبل تفعيل التعاون الاقتصادي بين لبنان وبلديهما

استقبل رئيس الهيئات الاقتصادية الوزير السابق محمد شقير في مقر غرفة بيروت وجبل لبنان سفيرة قبرص ماريا هادجيثو دوسيو وسفير كوبا خورخي بوفيريوليون كروز، وجرى البحث في تنمية العلاقات الاقتصادية الثنائية وتعزيز التعاون بين القطاع الخاص اللبناني ونظيره القبرصي والكوبي.

سفيرة قبرص 

وخلال استقباله السفيرة القبرصية، شدد شقير على علاقة الصداقة وحسن الجوار التي تربط البلدين، مشيداً بالتطور الحاصل على مستوى الشراكة بين القطاع الخاص في البلدين خلال السنوات الماضية وبشكلٍ خاص خلال الأزمة اللبنانية.

كما أكد شقير على ضرورة زيادة مستوى التنسيق والتعاون بين البلدين على المستوى الرسمي وعلى مستوى القطاع الخاص، لا سيما أن هناك فرص كثيرة يمكن العمل عليها بشكل مشترك ومن أبرزها التعاون في مجال النفط والغاز.

أما السفيرة القبرصية، فنوهت بالدينامية التي يتمتع بها القطاع الخاص اللبناني، وأكدت رغبة بلادها الدائمة في تنمية العلاقات الاقتصادية الثنائية، مشيرةً إلى أهمية زيادة التواصل والتنسيق بين القطاع الخاص في البلدين. كما أبدت استعدادها المساهمة في أي جهد يصب في تحقيق هذه الأهداف.

وفي نهاية اللقاء قدم شقير كتاب غرفة بيروت وجبل لبنان الى السفيرة دوسيو.

سفير كوبا 

ثم استقبل شقير سفير كوبا، وتم استعراض الجوانب الاقتصادية في العلاقات الثنائية وسبل تطويرها بالارتكاز على تعزيز التعاون بين القطاع الخاص في البلدين، حيث أكد شقّير اهتمام القطاع الخاص اللبناني بتطوير العلاقات مع كوبا.

أما السفير كروز، فأكد ضرورة العمل على تحقيق تقدم على مسار التعاون الاقتصادي الثنائي.&nbsp;

وفي نهاية اللقاء، قدم شقير كتاب غرفة بيروت وجبل لبنان الى السفير كروز.

An exciting new chapter in academy and industry collaboration began as the Kick Off event for Techlog pilot projects took place at the American University of Technology (AUT) in the presence of prominent figures and key stakeholders. The event marked the commencement of a groundbreaking partnership between AUT, renowned transport industry leaders, and local authorities, aimed at revolutionizing transportation education and practices.

The event commenced with a warm welcome from Marcel Hinain, Vice President of AUT, and was followed by insightful remarks from Rabih Sabra, Director General of the Beirut Chamber, and presentation of Techlog project by Hana Nehme, Director of Projects and concluded by intervention from Member of Parliament Ziad Hawat. The event was attended also by Dean of AUT Dr. Ghada Hinain in presence of representatives of local authorities, municipalities, , esteemed professors, and distinguished figures from the transportation and petroleum sector.

At the heart of this collaboration are TECHLOG Simulators, cutting-edge technology that promises to reshape the training landscape for students and professionals in transportation and logistics. One simulator, installed on AUT premises, will play a pivotal role in conducting pilot trainings addressing three key thematic areas: Safety, Stress, and Fatigue, Performance/Productivity and Eco-Drive.

Participants in these groundbreaking pilot projects will engage in simulation-based training utilizing truck driver simulators, offering a dynamic learning experience that bridges theory and practice. These exercises will culminate in the issuance of joint training certificates, endorsed by both AUT and the Beirut Chamber, The pilot activities are not limited to the academic sphere; they extend to enrich the experiences of the broader AUT community, including transportation studies, and municipalities trucks drivers.

During this kickoff event, Member of Parliament Ziad Hawat piloted the truck simulator to evaluate its performance on this occasion. AUT formalized 7 partnership agreements to strengthen ties with the transportation industry and ensure the continuity of these trainings. The collaborating entities include IPT Company, Adham El Khatib &amp; Sons company, Saad Transport, CORAL, Transpetrol and two local municipalities of Halat and Zogharta.
