The consortium partners of the EU Erasmus project CONECTE, discussed in a virtual online meeting on 23 April 2020 the planned activities for the first year 2020 of the project lifetime. The Chamber of Beirut and Mount Lebanon is a key partner in this consortium led by the University Saint Joseph in Beirut and the partnership of Lebanese and European universities and institutions partners. The agenda of the meeting tackled the training trips, the online trainings workshops, the work teams, the equipment tender and the working packages along with the preparation for the communication plan and the virtual e-Learning module. CONECTE Project is an EU funded project under ERASMUS program /the Capacity-Building projects in the field of Higher Education that aims at modernizing the higher education in Lebanon and strengthening entrepreneurship, university-enterprise cooperation, employability and E-learning. It aims at better matching the labour market skills needs generated by the port logistics, a sector with high growth potential, with the TVET offer in order to new jobs for young people.</li> <li>TECHLOG: &nbsp;The project is led by the University of Cagliari, Italy. It introduces programs to support, assist and transfer of research-industry cooperation technologies in (trans) port communities. ENI CBC MED Program 2020-2023: CCIA-BML Strategic Projects

Since 2012, the Chamber collaborates closely through opinion surveys, conferences and think tanks with ETF, on the reform of educational and qualifications systems, shaping flexible curricula mainly in TVET education to be more adapted to labor market. Partnership CCIA-BML & European Training Foundation (ETF)

The Chamber is an affiliated active partner in diverse activities of the EU funded project EBSOMED. it is a 4 year project co-financed by the European Commission, led by the Union of Mediterranean Confederations of Enterprises (BUSINESSMED) and implemented by the MEDALLIANCE consortium consisting of 5 partners: EUROCHAMBRES (Association of Chambers of Commerce in Europe); ASCAME (Association of Chambers of Commerce in the Mediterranean); ANIMA Investment Network; CAWTAR (Center of Arab Women for Training and Research); GACIC (German-Arabic Chambers of Commerce). The project aims at boosting the Mediterranean business ecosystem promoting inclusive economic growth and job creation, by enhancing the private sector environment and namely the Business Support Organisations in the Southern Neighbourhood countries.

ICC WORLD Chambers of Commerce

ICC Chamber members from more than 100 countries were called to vote last November and elect their twenty preferred chamber leaders from forty-six candidates, to serve on the WCF General Council 2020-2022.&nbsp; Mr. Hamad Buamim Chair ICC World Chambers Federation confirmed yesterday the re-election and appointment of Mr. Sabra to serve on WCF General Council as a co-opted member for a second term mandate. The first meeting for the new WCF General Council will be held on 12-13 February in Paris, France at the ICC Headquarters to set the upcoming two years strategy, goals and action plan. The Chamber of Beirut and Mount Lebanon extends its warmest congratulations to Mr. Sabra and wishes him a successful new mandate in representing the voice of the global chamber community within the ICC.&nbsp;

&nbsp; التاريخ: 11/1/2019 اجتمع وفد من الهيئات الاقتصادية ضم رئيس الهيئات محمد شقير وأمينها العام نقولا شماس ورئيس جمعية المصارف جوزف طربيه مع وزير المالية علي حسن خليل اليوم في مقر الوزارة لاستيضاح الكلام المنسوب الى وزير المالية أمس في احدى الصحف المحلية. وقد اكد الوزير خليل احترام وزارة المالية الكامل لكافة التزاماتها تجاه حاملي ادوات الدين السيادي على مختلف انواعها والمحررة بالعملات الوطنية والاجنبية ، وان هذا الالتزام أمر مفروغ منه . واثنى وزير المالية على الدور الوطني والبناء الذي يقوم به القطاع المصرفي اللبناني في تنمية الاقتصاد الوطني وامداد القطاعين العام والخاص بالموارد المالية وانتظام الدورة المالية في البلاد، وأكد أنه من هنا ينبغي على جميع المعنيين المحافظة على سلامة وصلابة النظام المصرفي اللبناني لما له من دور محوري في تامين الاستقرار المالي والاقتصادي والاجتماعي. وبعد جولة مناقشات حول الوضعين المالي والاقتصادي المازومين، اشاد الوفد بجهود وزير المالية في استنباط حلول مالية لتخفيض النفقات وزيادة الايرادات لكسر الحلقة المفرغة المتمثلة بارتفاع عجز الموازنة وتنامي الدين العام. وفي نهاية الاجتماع تم الاتفاق على استمرار التواصل والتنسيق بين الجانبين لإيجاد الحلول المناسبة لتحقيق الهدف المشترك بإنقاذ الوضعين المالي والاقتصادي.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;المكتب الإعلامي

ASCAME, the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry, approved at its last Executive Committee meeting a statement that called for solidarity with Lebanon and its people, especially with its private sector. The Lebanese private sector, which is mostly made up of SMEs, is going through a very difficult situation due to the political instability of the country, which requires the support and solidarity of the business community of all Mediterranean region. Due to the current developments in Lebanon, ASCAME calls on its members and affiliated companies to show solidarity with their Lebanese counterparts, particularly Lebanese importing companies who face difficulties in transferring foreign currencies outside Lebanon. &nbsp;
